I. Diplomatic Relations

 

There is Embassy level representation. The Greek Embassy to the Holy See opened in 1988.

 

II. Political Relations

 

The Vatican was visited by the then President of the Republic, K. Karamanlis (1982), the then Prime Minister A. Papandreou (1984), the then President of the Republic, K. Stephanopoulos (2001) and the President of the Hellenic Republic M. K. Papoulias (1.28.06) who had audiences with the Pope.  In May 2001, at the invitation of the then President of the Republic, Pope John Paul II made a visit of pilgrimage to Greece.
