This visa entitles a foreigner who wishes to do so to enter the Schengen area for tourism purposes, participation in conferences or other events, to visit relatives, for trade exchanges, for medical reasons, for cultural or sport purposes, etc. It is worth noting that visa C is not granted for immigration purposes or for a long-term stay in a Schengen member state. Type C visas entitle foreigners to visit one or more Schengen countries, one or more times, for a total duration which does not exceed 90 days in any half-year (180 days), starting from the date of first entry. This type of visa is issued for one, two or more entries, whereas for certain categories of person it may be valid for one year or more.
