ü        The Secretary General for International Economic Relations & Development Co-operation and Special Representative of the Greek MFA on Climate Change, Mr. Theodore Skylakakis, addressed the GA Thematic debate "Addressing Climate Change: the UN and the World at Work"( February 11/12^th). He made special reference to the HSN and to the Human security/ Climate Change nexus as the priority theme of the Chairmanship of Greece, as well as to three particularly vulnerable population groups: children, women, and persons fleeing their homes. He also stressed the critical role of international development cooperation in the global effort to alleviate human suffering induced by climate change
ü        Greece’s Permanent Representation in the UN attended the Third Meeting of the friends of Human Security (UN HQs, NY 7/11/07) and presented the priorities of the HSN Chairmanship of Greece.
ü        Ambassador Mr. P. Goumas, Special Co-ordinator of the HSN Chairmanship of Greece, attended the International Seminar on “Human Security: an integrated approach for freedom from fear and freedom from want” (Brussels, 5/6 November 2007) organised by the internationally acclaimed NGOs Pax Chirsti International & Social Alert, held in the Belgian Federal Parliament. Mr. Goumas briefed the participants on the overall contribution of the HSN and the main priority subject and work plan of Greek HSN Chairmanship.
ü        The Greek Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Petros Doukas, hosted the annual ministerial HSN working lunch in the margins of the UNGA (N.Y. 28/9/2007). Among many other distinguished participants, EU REL.EX Commissioner, Ms Benita Ferrero-Waldner, attended the lunch and delivered the keynote address.
ü        Foreign Minister Ms Dora Bakoyannis delivered a speech  in the framework of the UNSG High Level event “The Future in our Hands” which addressed the Leadership Challenge of Climate Change (NY, UN Headquarters, 24 September 2007). At the same event, the Greek Chair tabled a Statement illustrating the main priorities of Human Security & Climate Change.
ü        The Greek Chair presented its priorities during an international conference on “Linking Environment, Development, Stability and Security” (June 15, 2007, organised by the “Hellenic Foundation for Foreign and European Policy” (ELIAMEP). In the Network’s spirit, the conference highlighted the imperative for cross-regional and inter-agency action to meet the new security challenges interrelated to climate change.
ü        The Greek Chair presented its priorities during a conference dedicated to “Environment and Human Security in SE Europe” (Athens, June 14, 2007), which was organised by the EC Pythagoras, a research project on Human Security in SE Europe.
ü        The Prime Minister of Greece met with Mr. Al Gore in Athens (June 13^th), in the context of the latter’s environmental campaign, and he stressed the priority position that the issue of climate change holds in Greek government policies.
ü        Foreign Minister Ms. D. Bakoyannis delivered a message  on the occasion of the World Environment Day (June 5^th 2007), making special reference to HSN and to the priorities of the Greek Chairmanship.
